In the wake of the kidnapping of two minor girls in a span of 16 days from Rewari railway station, the village panchayats of Chimnawas and Patauda villages on Sunday announced to a day-long bandh in Rewari on June 14 to protest against the state government and the polices inability to trace the girls.
The villagers claimed that if the police failed to recover the girls by June 10,they will launch a massive stir against the government and also enforce a complete shutdown in Rewari on June 14. The villagers will also start a four-day dharna in front of the Rewari district mini secretariat from June 10.
A decision in this regard was taken at a mahapanchayat organised in Chimnawas village, where Congress MP Rao Inderjit Singh also participated.
Gurdial Singh Rajpura, who chaired the mahapanchayat, said: It is extremely sad and shocking that the police are yet to find any clue to the kidnappings. Parul of Chimnawas and Divya of Patauda village were kidnapped from the Rewari railway station.
It is extremely condemnable that the police have still not traced the girls. I support the decision of the villagers and the mahapanchayat and will extend all possible cooperation for the cause, Rao Inderjit said told the gathering.
