Man wounded in landmine explosion

Mohammad Yousuf Jeendhar was critically injured in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC).

A 42-year-old man was critically injured in a landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district of north Kashmir,police said today.

Mohammad Yousuf Jeendhar,a resident of Churanda,was cutting grass when he accidentally stepped on a landmine in Uri sector,140-km from here,yesterday.

Jeendhar,whose right foot was blown off,was admitted to a hospital in serious condition,police said.

The landmine was planted by army in no man’s land as part of counter-infiltration measures to scuttle any attempt by militants to sneak into the Valley from across the border,they said.
