Mahila Cong flays Badal over Blusetar memorial

Nimisha Mehta,vice-president,Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress,in a statement said Badal has committed a grave injustice to the Hindu society.

JALANDHAR: The Punjab Mahila Congress Tuesday lashed out against the Punjab government for constructing a memorial to slain Khalistani leader Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale at Golden Temple saying Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has once again “brought back the bitter memories of the atrocities faced by the Hindus during the black days of terrorism”. Nimisha Mehta,vice-president,Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress,in a statement said Badal has committed a grave injustice to the Hindu society. “The Hindus have a strong emotional attachment with the Golden Temple. Whenever a Hindu would go to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple now,he will recall the horrific memories of the dark days witnessed by Punjab,” she said.

‘Jarnail Singh symbol of Sikh struggle’

JALANDHAR: The Dal Khalsa on Tuesday asked the Akal Takht and other four takht jathedars’ to convene a Sikh conclave to thwart the proposed move of the Punjab government to remove an inscription listing Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s name from the Bluestar Memorial constructed at the Golden Temple premises in Amritsar. Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh,taking exception over SGPC head Avtar Singh Makkar claim that the memorial would not be named after any individual,said: “Makkar should make no mistake. Jarnail Singh is not an individual but he was a symbol of Sikh struggle.”
