Kannur RSS trainer murder: CBI to question CPI(M) leader P Jayarajan

Senior CPI (M) leader and party Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan would be interrogated by the CBI in connection with the murder probe of RSS district sharirik shikshan pramukh E Manoj last year.

CBI has served a notice to Jayarajan, a state committee member of the party, at his office in Kannur on Wednesday asking him to appear before the investigating officer in Thiruvananthapuram on June 2. The CBI, which is now probing into the conspiracy angle in the murder, three months back had charge sheeted 18 persons, who were associated with the CPI (M).

Manoj was hacked to death on September 2, last year. He was one of the accused in a murder attempt on Jayarajan in 1999. A trial court had convicted Manoj for jail term, by the high court had stayed it.

A few years back, Jayarajan was arrested in connection with the murder of Muslim League activist Ariyil Shukkoor.
