ED raids illegal money exchanger,seizes Rs 84 lakh

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday raided Jagraon’s money exchanger Goyal forex and seized Rs 84 lakh and documents worth Rs 100 crore.

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday raided Jagraon’s money exchanger Goyal forex and seized Rs 84 lakh and documents worth Rs 100 crore. Gurnam Singh,Deputy Director of the enforcement wing from Chandigarh,Hemant Kumar from Delhi and other officers of the department had conducted the raid. The enforcement wing officers stated that they will be verifying all the deals. The officials are not ruling out the possibility that hawala money could have been exchanged. The team even raided the house of the owner. The seized documents include names of people,who had reportedly got money transferred to different countries,said an enforcement wing official. Jagraon SSP Ashish Chaudhary said,“The enforcement wing had just asked for police help. We do not have details of the raid”.
