The three-time MP also underlined that the cancellation of his invitation was a breach of privilege and parliamentary procedures and that he would take up the issue with the Speaker.

A day after his invite to the bhoomi pujan ceremony of National Cancer Institute at Badhsa in Jhajjar was cancelled, Congress MP Deepender Hooda Sunday said the BJP government, both at the state and the Centre, was trying to take credit for projects launched by the Congress-led UPA government.

The three-time MP also underlined that the cancellation of his invitation was a breach of privilege and parliamentary procedures and that he would take up the issue with the Speaker.

“Such an incident has never happened. If it has happened to one MP, it can happen to others. What happened here is an insult of democracy. It is an insult of people of the constituency,” said Deepender, while releasing a list of 48 such projects “that were approved by the UPA government for Haryana but were either delayed or have not moved over the past two years”.

The National Cancer Institute at Badhsa, he said, was approved during the UPA and former PM Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone in January last year. Deepender said a proposal was initially mooted that PM Modi will lay the foundation stone again and he had objected to it.

On Sunday, Union Health Minister J P Nadda performed bhumi pujan at the site.

“The advertisements issued by the Centre had my name, while those issued by the state did not. I was told they are scared of me,” Deepender said.
