Bihar govt names college, science city after ‘People’s President’ APJ Abdul Kalam

“The cabinet has approved the proposal to name ‘Agriculture College, Kishanganj’ as Dr Kalam Agriculture College, Kishanganj’. It has also decided to name the proposed science city in the state capital as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Science City,” Coordination Department Principal Secretary Shishir Kumar Sinha said, Sinha said the cabinet remembered Kalam as a great personality who was an embodiment of science and spirituality.

The ‘missile man’ would always be in the hearts of the people of this country as an immense repertoire of knowledge, scientist, scholar and teacher.

The Bihar cabinet in its tributes said that Kalam’s attachment to the state could never be forgotten. He had given 10-point suggestion for the development of the state while addressing a joint session of Bihar legislature in 2006.

In its condolence message, the cabinet said, “Kalam had said Bihar had a glorious past and there should be efforts to revive its heritage. He kept coming to the state and guiding us. Though we have lost our guide, we’ll keep walking the path shown by him.”

Sinha said the cabinet also decided to keep a copy of the tribute on record and send another to the family members of Kalam. A two-minute silence was also observed by the ministers.
