Would like to work with them in increasing number of ways, says Defence Secretary Aston Carter

The US will support India’s aim to be the net exporter of security to the region, Defence Secretary Aston Carter said in Goa Monday. “India aims to be net exporter of security to this region and we support that. Would like to work with them in increasing number of ways. Their (India) policy is based on rule of law and principles that everyone should rise. We find this as inclusive and compatible with ours,” he said.

On board the USS Blue Ridge, which he visited with Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Carter clarified that US’ bonhomie with India has nothing to do with its dispute with China over South China Sea. “We don’t intend to exclude or confront. For years, our effort has been to maintain peace in the region, which has allowed economic progress in India, China, Japan and other Asian countries,” he said.
