Services on the Western line of the Mumbai suburban train network were severely affected after an empty coach derailed off a slow track between Lower Parel and Elphinstone railway stations at 2:15 am Tuesday. The coach was put back and the services were resumed around 10 am.

According to the Western Railways officials, a 19-coach empty train was travelling from the Parel workshop to the yard when the second coach capsized onto the adjoining track, affecting services in both directions.
