Expressing anger over the use of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s name by a sect involved in the Mathura violence, his grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose Tuesday demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident that saw 29 people, including two policemen, killed.
“Netaji took up arms to fight against the British rule. But now the rule of law is supreme. We have a Constitution that does not allow anyone to take law into their own hands. They (the sect) were using the name of Netaji for their own vested interests. I feel there should be a CBI inquiry into the incident to bring out the truth,” said Bose, who unsuccessfully contested the recently-concluded Assembly polls in West Bengal against Mamata Banerjee.

“From where did they (sect members) get so much of arms and ammunition?” he wondered.
Ram Vriksh Yadav, the chief of the encroachers at Jawahar Bagh in Mathura who was among those killed in the clashes with police on June 2, was the leader of Azad Bharat Vidhik Vaicharik Kranti Satyagrahi, an outfit claiming allegiance to Netaji. “I strongly object to the use of Netaji’s name by this sect. They for their own benefit are resorting to violence and maligning the name of Netaji,” Bose added.
Bose has long been advocating the release of the files with the Central government regarding Netaji’s disappearance.
