A man allegedly killed his daughter on the suspicion that she was in a relationship. He has been arrested.
Ramandeep Kaur (17) was killed soon after she got to know that she had passed her Class XII examinations with 80 per cent marks.
When Baljit Singh (42) confronted his daughter over a suspected relationship, they got into a heated argument. Baljit allegedly slit her throat in a fit of rage.
The girl’s mother Binder Kaur rushed her to the hospital where she was declared bought dead. “The police lodged an FIR after Binder complaint to the police against Baljit, following which he was arrested. He has also accepted of committing the crime, said Pritpal Singh, station house officer Boha.

Pritpal said that Ramandeep was engaged to a boy from Bathinda’s Lehra Mohabbat village, three months ago.
He claimed that Baljit did not regret killing his daughter and that he would not be produced in court on Monday.
This is the fourth such killing this year.
On April 23, Harbans Singh Chhinda, a resident of Bhagta Bhai Ka area in Bathinda allegedly killed his 19-year-old daughter Manpreet Kaur for being in a relationship with a boy from a backward caste.
On March 27, another Bathinda man Bhola Singh allegedly attacked his daughter Beerpal Kaur and husband Baljeet Singh in Barnala. While Baljeet died, the girl survived. Beerpal had married Baljeet against the wishes of her parents.
In yet another incident, one Gora Singh on May 11, allegedly killed his minor daughters-aged four and two and cremated them quietly. He allegedly wanted to divorce his wife.
Ludhiana based psychiatrist Dr Rajeev Gupta said, “This indicates that people are yet to come out of the traditional system. And having a boyfriend or choosing a life partner of their choice is still being considered anti-social by many family members. This has led to such cold -blooded murders.”
