Air India and Indigo announced the cancellation of flights and operations in particular cities as a precautionary measure today, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, expressing concern about potential security or operational challenges in the region.
They further have advised passengers planning to fly to or from these cities to check their flight status and contact the airline’s support channels for assistance with rebooking or refunds.
On the other hand, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced the reopening of 32 airports in northern and western India for civil aviation; these airports had been briefly closed due to growing tensions between India and Pakistan, with the shutdown initially extended until May 15.
Air India has issued a travel advisory announcing the cancellation of flights to and from eight key cities for Tuesday, 13th May, citing safety considerations in light of “the latest developments,” via a tweet on Monday evening.
Similarly, IndiGo Airlines announced the cancellation of flight operations to multiple cities, to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot, for Tuesday, May 13, 2025. This update came just hours after IndiGo first announced the return of services on previously blocked routes.
“In accordance with the most recent government directives, the airports are now operational. We will gradually resume operations on the previously closed routes,” the airline stated in an earlier advisory.
