‘Twilight’ hunk Robert Pattinson managed to steal the show from heavyweights like Bill Clinton and Madonna at the AIDS charity gala at Cannes, when a kiss from the star fetched 40,000 pounds at the auction.
While a collector’s special photograph of Madonna from her Loius Vuitton campaign auctioned by the British actor managed to fetch 30,000 pounds, there was instant clamour when host Sharon Stone announced that the next item on the list was a kiss from the ‘Twilight’ hunk, reported Daily Mail online.
Two bidders handed over 20,000 pounds each for the actor to kiss their daughters, and Pattinson said that he was “happy” to oblige.
The American Foundation for AIDS Research gala or the ‘Amfar’ gala was one of the biggest events of the 62nd Cannes Film Festival with none other than former US president Bill Clinton being the guest of honour.
An autographed saxophone which was famously played by Clinton on a TV show when he was in the White House, went under the hammer for 130,000 pounds.
“Every time a child dies of AIDS a light goes out in the world,” said Clinton at the event.
