Actor Sooraj Pancholi is set to make his comeback with the upcoming film Kesari Veer, where he will share screen space with Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Barkha Bisht, Aruna Irani, and Kiran Kumar. Before making his acting debut in Hero (2015), Sooraj worked as an assistant director with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Guzaarish and Kabir Khan on Ek Tha Tiger. In a recent interview, the actor spoke about the contrasting styles of the two filmmakers and called them his favourites.
During an interview with the Bollywood Bubble, Sooraj talked about approaching SLB for work. He said, “My family and Sanjay Sir used to live in the same building. I rang his doorbell one day to ask him for work. He told me I was too young and asked me who my favourite actor was. I replied, ‘Hrithik Roshan.’ He told me that I was lucky because he was working on Guzaarish at the time.”
Sooraj further shared how demanding yet transformative it was to work with the Guzaarsh director. He said, “If you make a mistake during his shoot, Sanjay sir will make sure everyone knows you have made a mistake. He will put you down, but the next day he will smile at you and tell you to be better. You learn a lot with him.” The actor also revealed that he used to be a stand-in for Hrithik and would get scolded by SLB if he made any mistakes.
Despite the challenges he faced while working with them, Sooraj Pancholi expressed in the interview that Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Kabir remain his favourite filmmakers. “Sanjay sir and Kabir Khan are both my dream directors. Sanjay sir is aggressive and passionate. Kabir sir is loving and very soft on you, but when he is angry, you should stay away from him. If you mess up on his set, you will get a good scolding for sure. I experienced that scolding from both sides.”
After spending over a decade entangled in controversies, Sooraj Pancholi is making another attempt to re-establish himself in the industry with his upcoming film Kesari Veer.
