JEE Main 2024 Topper: Ipsit Mittal, son of Math author, is aiming for IIT Delhi

JEE Main 2024 Topper: 'I can solve good questions just for fun of it, so that has been my motivation to take up engineering,' he said.

In the JEE Main 2024 session 1 results announced on February 13, Ipsit Mittal is one of the two students from New Delhi who scored 100 percentile. Like many others, Mittal, too, scored the perfect score in his first attempt.

Mittal chose to pursue engineering as his profession as he had always been interested in mathematics. “I can solve good number of questions just for fun of it, so that has been my motivation to take up engineering,” he told indianexpress.com.

Even though Ipsit scored 100 percentile in one of the toughest exams of the world, he claims that he did not follow any strict study schedule while preparing for JEE Main 2024. “I just corrected my body clock in the last month, to be naturally alert during the exam time,” he added.

He also added that after a hectic study schedule, he likes to engage in reading, cycling and talking to friends to unwind the pressure of studies.

Talking about offline versus online debate, Ipsit clarified that he believes offline classes are better for engineering exam preparation. “Offline classes are better than online. Along with Unacademy online content, I think offline classes helped me achieve this success in Session 1 of JEE Main.”

However, when Ipsit started preparing for JEE Main and JEE Advanced, he decided to ditch the popular idea of shifting to Kota and decided to stay with his family in the national capital. “Delhi has all the required facilities for my learning, so I didn’t feel the need to move to Kota. I felt I would stay happier around my friends and family here, which would automatically increase my productivity while studying and help me get the results I was hoping for,” he explained. Ipsit lives in a joint family, where his father runs a paper business while his mother is an author of mathematics books.

Since there is not much scope of improvement, Ipsit will be appearing directly for JEE Advanced. “My target has always been JEE Advanced, so I will be appearing for the same accordingly,” he said. However, he has some advice for those who will be appearing for session 2 in April.

“Since session 2 has very less time remaining, I would just advise to read the NCERTs thoroughly in physics and chemistry. Practicing as many previous year papers as possible is also key.”

After JEE Advanced 2024, Ipsit is hoping to bag a seat in the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT D), “which has been my dream institute since I got a chance to visit the campus in Class 7.”
