Spicejet has announced a new flight from Pune to Kochi starting July 1. The flight will be departing Pune at 11.30 am and reaching Kochi at 1.35 pm. The return flight will leave Kochi at 2 pm and reach Pune at 3.55 pm.
The announcement of the flight which came two days ago has been welcomed by the Malayalee community in the city. Welcoming the development,Hari Narayan,president,World Malyalee Council,Pune Province said,It is a great development as the Malayalee ommunity in the city will be able to reach their home state within two hours. Besides,Kerala is a major tourist destination and the flight can be helpful for those who want to travel to the state for holidays. Narayan said that the city,which has a four lakh plus Malyalee community and the train connectivity is two trains one weekly and the other one a bi-weekly.
The train connectivity is poor given that almost 50 people travel to Kerala every day. The train journey takes nearly 25 hours to reach Kochi. Till date,those who wanted to avoid train would have to fly to Hyderabad and then take connecting train or travel by road.
