A 28-year-old IT professional died after falling from an approximately 30 feet zipline launch tower at an adventure park located in Bhor taluka of Pune district.
According to police, the incident occurred while she was preparing to begin the zipline ride. Authorities have launched a probe into possible negligence by the park’s management and safety personnel.
According to information given by the officials from Rajgad police station under the Pune Rural police, the incident took place at Rajgad Water Park Resort located at Varve village in Bhor taluka, located around 30km from Pune, around 5.50pm on Friday.
Police have identified the deceased as Taral Arun Atpalkar, 28, a resident of Dhayari area of Pune. Police said Taral had come to the adventure park with her relatives on Friday afternoon. A case of accidental death was registered at Rajgad police station on Saturday, based on the information given by her uncle Nandkishor Atpalkar, 50.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Pune rural police, Ganesh Biradar said, “Initial information suggests Atpalkar was preparing to begin the zipline ride. Because the harness rope was not of sufficient length, she sat on a stool when she lost balance and fell down 30 feet. She sustained fatal injuries. A probe is being conducted to check if there was any negligence on the part of the management and safety personnel. Based on the findings of the probe, a case will be registered.”
Assistant Inspector Tukaram Rathod of Rajgad police station said, “The woman worked as an IT professional. The statement of the family members and other witnesses will be recorded as part of the probe.”
