Pune Assembly Constituencies Election Results 2024 Live Updates: The BJP won nine of the 21 seats in Pune district while the NCP led by Ajit Pawar won eight seats, including Baramati. Shiv Sena could only secure one seat. Congress on the other hand was completely wiped out in the district while ist alliance partner NCP (SP) led by Sharad Pawar could win only one seat. The remaining one seat was won by an Independent.

Battle in Baramati: The 65-year-old politician, thus, settled the score with his uncle Sharad Pawar (83), inflicting on him the first-ever defeat in this family bastion. Though Sharad Pawar himself was not in the fray, the high-stakes contest was being seen as a battle between him and Ajit. Ajit Pawar, who parted ways with his uncle last year and was seeking an eighth term from this seat in Pune district, polled 1,81,132 votes while Yugendra Pawar polled 80,233 votes. He, thus, defeated his younger brother Shriniwas’ son by 1,00,899 votes. Sunetra Pawar, now a Rajya Sabha member, thanked the people of Baramati for reposing their faith once again in `Dada’ (elder brother in Marathi, as Ajit is fondly called). Sharad Pawar, 83, started his political career in Baramati where he contested his first assembly election in 1967, and so far, he or a candidate backed by him had never tasted defeat in the constituency, reported PTI.

Look Back: The 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections saw intense competition across Pune’s 22 constituencies. The BJP claimed several key seats, including Kothrud, Parvati, and Kasba Peth. Meanwhile, the NCP emerged victorious in Baramati, Maval, and Pimpri, with Ajit Pawar securing a remarkable win in Baramati by a margin of 161,239 votes. However, the BJP’s performance fell short compared to 2014, losing constituencies like Hadapsar to the NCP’s Chetan Tupe.

BJP candidate Bhimrao Tapkir has secured a commanding lead in the Khadakwasla constituency, garnering 70,035 votes after 11 rounds of counting.
His closest rival, Sachin Dodke of the NCP (SP), trails significantly with 51,210 votes, leaving a margin of over 18,000 between the two.
Sharad Pawar's party office at Bhigwan Chowk remains quiet on Saturday, reflecting the diminished hopes for a victory in this election.
Even as agricultural distress in terms of lower than Minimum Support Price (MSP) rates of cotton and soyabean continued unabated, the Mahayuti managed to sweep the Vidharbha area of Maharashtra. Senior Congress leaders like Vijay Waddetiwar and others were trailing as BJP was headed to capture the cotton belt once again.
Farm activist Vijay Jawandhiya, while speaking to The Indian Express said the results are a result of the resounding success of the Majhi Mukhya Mantri Ladki Behin Yogna which saw the state government give Rs 1,500/- into the bank accounts of the eligible women in the state. “Money after all is money- people saw the swiftness with which the money was deposited in the bank accounts. This was one of the main reasons why people decided to vote for Mahayuti just months after voting for MVA in the Loksabha elections,” he said.
Another reason which helped the Mahayuti was the manner in which rebellions was handled and differences ironed out in the party. Unlike this, the MVA often was a divided house in Vidharba and strong independents who dented the chances of the official candidates. For example in the Ramtek seat Rajendra Mulak the Congress candidate who stood as a rebel was in the second position after Ashish Jaiswal the Shiv Sena (Eknaath Sinde) candidate while the official MVA candidate Vishal Barbate was in the fourth place. Internal rebellion had harmed the MVA more than the Mahayuti.
Ground level disconnect among the top leadership and the failure to put up an united front had hurt the party. Jawandhiya said the party leaders had become complacent after the Loksabha victory and had not made concentrated efforts to ensure they keep up the narrative. “Soyabean prices were well below MSP since the past few months- the Congress did not take up the matter till late. Kapas (seed cotton) prices are blow MSP- but this did not figure till late in the narrative,” he said. At the end of the day Ladki Bahin won the narrative for the Mahayuti in all parts.
After nine rounds of counting in the Shivajinagar constituency, BJP’s Siddharth Shirole takes decisive lead with 33,265 votes over Congress’s Datta Bahirat who has got 18,194 votes. Congress rebel Manish Anand has got 10,006 votes.
With five rounds of vote counting remaining in the Pune Cantonment Assembly segment, Sunil Kamble of the Mahayuti alliance has seen his lead narrow slightly.
Kamble has secured 55,277 votes so far, while Ramesh Bagwe of the MVA Congress has garnered 52,815 votes.
Nilesh Alhat of the VBA has made inroads, capturing 8,387 votes—many of which traditionally lean towards Congress. Additionally, 1,239 voters have opted for the NOTA (None of the Above) option by the end of the 15th round.
In Shirdi, BJP candidate Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil declared the winner. He has won the seat for the 8th consecutive time. He was earlier in Congress.
Anticipating Ajit Pawar's victory in Baramati, supporters erupted in celebration at Bhigwan Chowk, playing with colors and dancing to the beats of Dhol-Tasha, showcasing their dominance in the constituency.

In Pune district, the Mahayuti has managed to retain its hold by leading in 18 of the 21 seats with BJP leading in 9, NCP in 8 and Shiv Sena in 1 seat.
Among those leading include Chadrakant Patil in Kothrud, Ajit Pawar in Baramati, Dilip Walse Patil in Ambegaon, Dattatraya Bharne in Indapur, Madhuri Misal in Parvati.
Mahayuti candidate Sunil Kamble has established a significant lead in the Cantonment assembly constituency, securing 37,698 votes by the end of the 10th round of counting.
His closest competitor, Congress candidate Ramesh Bagwe, has garnered 31,822 votes so far.
Meanwhile, Nilesh Alhat of the VBA has received 7,363 votes.
Notably, 947 voters opted for the NOTA (None of the Above) option.
Ajit Pawar continues to maintain a commanding lead in the Baramati Assembly elections. After the seventh round of counting, Pawar has secured 10,500 votes, leading by 6,330 votes over Yugendra Pawar, who has 4,170 votes in this round. His total lead now stands at an impressive 33,886 votes.

With the Mahayuti heading for a landslide victory in Maharashtra Saturday, BJP spokesperson Pravin Darekar said Devendra Fadnavis is likely to be the next chief minister of the state.
''This result has taken us by surprise. We knew we would win but never expected such an overwhelming result. I think Devendra Fadnavis is likely to be the chief minister,'' Darekar told reporters in Mumbai.
The BJP was leading in 125 seats of the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly as votes were being counted. It won 105 seats in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Sheetal Mhtare said Mahayuti leaders will decide who will be the chief minister “We think Eknath Shinde should remain the chief minister,” she said.
Another BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhaye said, “Elections results are coming in. The Mahayuti is clearly leading. This vote is for development. If BJP workers think so, Fadnavis should be the CM and there is nothing wrong with it... After all, Mahayuti leaders will take the decision”.
After the split in the Shiv Sena in 2022, the BJP made Eknath Shinde the chief minister and Fadnavis was relegated to the deputy chief minister's post.

After the 7th round of counting in Shivajinagar, BJP's Siddharth Shitole leads with 28,609 votes against Congress's Datta Bahirat who has 14,966 votes. Congress rebel Manish Anand has bagged 8,748 votes.

A neck and neck contest in the Cantonment assembly segment. At the end of the sixth round, Sunil Kamble of Mahayuti holds a narrow lead with 19,384 votes, closely followed by Ramesh Bagwe of MVA Congress, who has garnered 19,092 votes.
However, the strong showing of VBA's Nilesh Alhat, who polled over 5,000 votes, could potentially spoil Bagwe’s chances of making a comeback.
