Pune: ‘Persons’ booked for throwing ‘acid’ on 2 dogs

An offence has been registered against unidentified persons at Faraskhana police station after two stray dogs were found in Ravivar Peth with severe burn injuries suspected to have been caused by deliberately throwing acid or similar substance on them.

Police said that the incident was reported on June 1, when an animal lover in Raviwar Peth found the two dogs seriously injured.

He reported the matter to Faraskhana police, who have registered an offence  under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act after receiving report from the doctors confirming the injury to have been caused by an acid or similar substance.

PSI A K Chaus of Kharaskhana police station said efforts were on identify the suspect.
