Shiv Jayanti processions: Here’s a look at traffic curbs, parking arrangements in Pune

The Pune City police have notified traffic changes and traffic diversions from 7 am to 2 pm in the wake of the ‘Jai Shivaji Jai Bharat’ procession in the city organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to mark Shiv Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, on Wednesday.

The 4-kilometre-long padayatra or foot march will start from Engineering College Ground and take the route via SG Barve Chowk, SSPMS College, Jhashichi Rani Chowk, Khandoji Baba Chowk, Good Luck Chowk before concluding at Fergusson College Ground.

Following arterial roads will have traffic diversions:

Traffic on Jangali Maharaj Road will be diverted from Sancheti Chowk to Khandoji Baba Chowk and will be routed via Kamgar Putla Chowk and Shimla Office Chowk. Vehicles on Fergusson College Road will be diverted via SNDT Corner, Nal Stop, and Kanheri Road.

Traffic coming to Khadoji Baba Chowk from Tilak Chowk will be stopped as and when required and will be diverted via Shastri Road and Nal Stop. Vehicles proceeding to Deccan from Kelkar Road via Z Bridge will be diverted via Garud Ganpati Chowk, while those going via Bhide Bridge will be diverted via Tilak Chowk.

The areas allocated for parking are: Sangamwadi Parking, Riverbed Parking near Deccan, and Agriculture College Ground.

For another procession in the city on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti, the traffic on Laxmi Road, Shivaji Road, and Bajirao Road will be diverted via connected roads as and when required.

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Union Ministers Raksha Khadse and Murlidhar Mohol along with other state ministers, MPs and MLAs/MLCs will join the Padyatra.
