Kalavardhini Charitable Trust,an institution founded by Dr Suchita Bhide Chapekar,is known for its innovative and meaningful group productions, and is ready to present its new production called ‘Jaladhara’. All the pieces under this theme will feature rain-inspired choreographies performed in Nritya-Ganga style, which is a fusion of Bharatnatyam and Hindi classical music. The inaugural show, which takes place at 6:00pm at Tilak Smarak Mandir on July 13,will be divided into two halves – the first being mainly traditional dance styles, while the second,a fusion of Bharatnatyam,Kathak and contemporary dance styles. Arundhati Patwardhan, the brain behind ‘Jaladhara’,believes that the dance pieces will portray the romanticism of monsoon. “Classical dance has always been for the classes, never the masses. With this production,we will try to make the common man understand the depth and strength behind classical dance forms,” Patwardhan says.
