A unique exhibition of entrepreneurship had been organised by the women of the Bohra community at the Poona Club amphitheater on February 26 and 27. The event showcased the various entrepreneurial work that women of the community have been engaging in. The venue was decked with colorful stalls, selling a range of products – from home decor items to food stuff, from bags and clothes to gift hampers for infants. The stalls were managed by the entrepreneurs themselves.
Zahara Bensaheb Nooruddin, president of the association of Bohra community women in Pune, was the brain behind the event. It is just one of the various activities being held across the country to mark the 100th year birthday celebrations of the communitys spiritual leader,His Holiness Syedna Dr Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS).
A slew of interesting events like car rallies, tree plantation drives and sporting events have been held as a part of the celebrations which will,in totality, span over 100 days and will culminate on March 26 this year. The community has also launched a campaign called ‘Save Our Sparrows (SOS)’ as a part of the celebrations. These activities are aimed at showcasing the community and its people, while simultaneously contributing to the betterment of the society and the environment.
