7 hutments gutted at Juna Bazar

A fire erupted in Juna Bazar in Mangalwar Peth on Sunday afternoon destroying seven huts in the slum area. No injuries or casualties were reported.

A fire erupted in Juna Bazar in Mangalwar Peth on Sunday afternoon destroying seven huts in the slum area. No injuries or casualties were reported.

About eight fire tenders took around 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. Fire brigade said they got a call at 12.28 pm about a fire in a hut.

When the first fire tender reached the spot,the fire had spread to more huts. Seven to eight additional tenders were called in. Vijay Bhilare,station duty officer of the Pune railway fire brigade sub-station,said,“The fire seems to be due to a short circuit. The exact reason will be confirmed after further investigation.”

Amarnath Shulka,a rickshaw driver whose hut was gutted,said,“We all were inside the house when the fire broke out. All we had including the sewing machine was gutted.”
