Rs 6,000-crore scam in works allotted by MSIDC: Rohit Pawar

“MSIDC is run by Brijesh Dixit who already faces strictures from CAG. The PWD minister should come out clean on every detail of these tenders and failing to do so would force us to approach the court against all the irregularities," he said.

Nationalist Congress Party (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar Thursday alleged that tenders for 146 works floated by the newly formed Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) — under the Public Works Department (PWD) — were filed for 20-25 per cent higher amount for Rs 6,000-crore commission .

“The MSIDC floated works for 146 works worth Rs 40,000 crore which include construction of roads as well as few buildings, just before the Lok Sabha election code of conduct was applied. Selected four-five contractors have been given the tender where at least 15 per cent money has been given in the form of commission, amounting to Rs 6000 crore,” alleged Pawar.

The MLA alleged that the works were issues only in the areas of ruling MLAs.

“Each and every tender was filed for 20-25 per cent higher amount. This cannot be coincidence. We demand to know all the details of these tenders including every bids of each contractor,” he said.

The financial bids of these tenders have been opened.

“MSIDC is run by Brijesh Dixit who already faces strictures from CAG. The PWD minister should come out clean on every detail of these tenders and failing to do so would force us to approach the court against all the irregularities,” he said.

Pawar claimed that Rs 6,000 crore have been spent merely on commission in these tenders. “Was this money used during Lok Sabha elections? We demand answers and we will raise the issue in the Assembly as well,” he said.

When contacted PWD minister Ravindra Chavan declined to comment on the issue.
