A member of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and a chairman of a school in West Delhi, accused of molesting a teacher, was released on bail on Tuesday, after his arrest on Monday night.
According to police, Gurbakhash Singh (59), molested a teacher of the same school where he is the chairman. Based on a complaint filed by the teacher at Harinagar police station, Singh was arrested.
“Gurbakhash Singh was arrested for molesting a teacher in the school where he holds an important post. Singh and the teacher had differences and would often get into spats,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ranvir Singh said.
Parminder Pal Singh, media advisor of DSGMC, however, denied the charges, claiming that the case against Gurbakhash Singh was false.
“The teacher and Gurbakhash Singh had fought. How can charges under section 354 a (molestation) be pressed against our member. This is a conspiracy to unseat our member,” Parminder Pal Singh said.
In a statement released by the DSGMC, Gurbakhash Singh said his political rivals were trying to frame him. Newsline tried to contact Gurbakhash Singh repeatedly on his phone on Tuesday. However, his phone was found switched off.
The leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) from Paharganj Pravjeet Singh said Gurbakhash was an elected member and should be suspended by the DSGMC.
On June 29, another DSGMC member, Harjeet Singh, had been arrested on charges of molesting a woman employee of the Rakabganj Gurdwara.
Harjeet Singh was the manager of Rakabganj Gurdwara.
