IN A veiled attack on Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, BJP national secretary Pankaja Munde said on Thursday that, “the Maratha reservation cannot be given by making statements. It has to withstand legal and constitutional test.” Pankaja Munde, who has started a ten-day pilgrimage, hopping districts to visit important temples under Shivshakti yatra, spoke to media at Kolhapur on Thursday.

On Wednesday, CM Eknath Shinde had said, “The cabinet has decided to issue Kunbi caste certificate to those Marathas hailing from Marathwada region who possess revenue or education documents from the Nizam era.”

Responding to a question on the reservation row, she said, “The complex issue like Maratha reservation cannot be solved through statements.” I have been consistently saying that Marathas should get reservation. “To do this, an expert committee should be constituted. The Maratha organisations should be taken into confidence and adequately consulted in the process,” she said.
