A SPECIAL court in Mumbai rejected the bail application of a man arrested for propagating the ideology of banned terror outfit ISIS.
The bail plea of Zubair Noor Mohammed Shaikh was rejected by the court on March 29 and the detailed order was made available on Wednesday.
Shaikh was arrested in 2023 along with five others under sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act allegedly for being members of ISIS and for propagating its ideology.
Shaikh sought bail on the ground that there is no evidence to show that he was a member of the organisation.
The NIA opposed his plea stating that there was proof including text messages and the statement of a protected witness who showed his complicity.
Special Judge B D Shelke said that there was prima facie material including a statement of a witness who has said that Shaikh was posting provoking messages on a WhatsApp group, in support of ISIS.
The NIA had filed a case claiming that the accused were part of a conspiracy to further terrorist activities of ISIS to disturb the unity, integrity and sovereignty of India.
