Muskan Phophaliya R A Podar College 99.33% in Commerce Thanking her elder brother for being the anchor during her preparation, Phophaliya said, “My brother organized my portion for me and set daily goals for me to fulfill, I cannot thank him enough for his contribution.” It was “daunting” to appear for the board exam in a class full of strangers, Phophaliya said. While studying for HSC, she also prepared for CA Foundation Exams simultaneously. Apart from academics, Phophaliya took interest in drawing and also competed at local-level swimming competitions. Looking forward to taking admission to regular B. Com. Phophaliya plans to pursue CA for a career.
Rhea Taparia Jai Hind College 95% in arts Stating that high HSC exam score was unexpected, Rhea said she was really elated. “It was a little stressful as I began preparing for board exams,” said Rhea, who plans to pursue Psychology for graduation. “I was introduced to this subject only in Class 11 and 12 and I want to explore more,” said Rhea, a resident of Sion. During her free time, Rhea joins a local NGO for voluntary work where she teaches school going-children from underprivileged backgrounds.
Mihika Hemrajani Pace Junior College in Andheri 97.33% in Science For Hemrajani, who studied for over 6-8 hours daily, the result has been a pleasant surprise. Having a keen interest in coding, Hemrajani has applied to various colleges abroad for higher studies. She said, “My choice for pursuing studies abroad is due to the flexibility in their education system.” Hemrajani has been selected in University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign (UIUC) and will study Computer Science as her core subject. “I wish to learn more about coding and its applications in the world of Finance,” she added. Om Patil R A Podar College 73% in Commerce Suffering from Locomotive Disability which affected the functioning of both of his hands, Om Patil, worked specially on his ability to write fast so as to perform well in exams. For it, he trained himself to write with both his hands daily. “Having this disease since childhood, I knew only my hard work would pay off,” said Patil while he thanked his teachers for giving him a well-rounded preparation. He said, “We were taught key concepts, previous years question papers and most importantly, time management.” Patil now is preparing for CA and will pursue a B.Com Degree in his current college.
Krina Khokani R A Podar College 94.17% in Commerce Khokani is really happy to see that the hard-work paid off. Due to Haemophilia disorder, Khokani is not able to take part in physical activities or any tasks which may lead to physical exertion as to avoid any chance of bleeding. But that has never stopped her. Not only academics, Khokani also managed to do an internship in marketing and managed events at her college. “The disease was never an obstacle, I even gave my exams under normal conditions, I had to only take an injection” says Khokani. Her dream is to pursue CA for a career and she is preparing for the foundation exam to be held in June. Saumil Tambule Ramnivas Ruia College 89% in Arts Saumil has a condition of mild autism making him a student of special needs. Speaking on behalf of her son, Smruti Tambule, said, “His achievement in boards has astounded us. We are immensely grateful to the college for its support throughout.” She shared how the lecturers at Ruia were trained to interact with students alike and teach them concepts in a more friendly manner. “The college was generous in providing notes too,” she said, adding that Saumil’s preparation was intentionally kept simple. “A daily revision of the concepts taught in college was our go-to method along with a thorough study of the textbooks,” said Smruti. Currently Saumil looks forward to pursuing Bachelors of Arts at the same college.
Sanuja Yadav Ramnivas ruia Junior College 87.33% in Arts Sanuja Yadav, a visually challenged student, who made a switch to English Medium after studying in Marathi till 10th, claimed consistency as her biggest strength in her preparation. “I sourced Textbooks in Braille from a helpline number and studied from them daily. It was difficult initially to switch from Marathi to English as my family members are not much educated as well, but my teachers were supportive,” said Yadav adding that she faced difficulty obtaining a writer for the exams. “Most of the students are hesitant as they think they will be blamed for any mistake that may occur” said Sanuja. Nonetheless she managed to obtain one just before the exams. Yadav aims to graduate in Arts from Ruia College and prepare for civil service exams, simultaneously.
