History fair at Fazlani L’Académie Globale

Fazlani L’Académie Globale organised the first of its kind Middle School History Fair titled BACK IN TIME.

Fazlani L’Académie Globale organised the first of its kind Middle School History Fair titled BACK IN TIME on Friday 13th December. The fair was based on the themes of Prehistory & Human Civilization,Renaissance & Revolutions and 20th Century Modern World History. Students from grades 6 to 8 worked on a diverse range of media (newspaper,story board,historical website,3D models,murals,posters,games & comic strips) to create interesting projects. The fair gave students an opportunity to realize the value & importance of History and the integral role it plays in shaping our present and future.

Science exhibition for R-ward at St Xavier’s

The Science exhibition for the R-ward (east Zone) for the year 2013-14 was inaugurated on 2nd December in the presence of prominent personalities such as Dr A F Jayaraman (Chief Nuclear Scientist),Vinod Gosalkar (MLA Maharashtra),Snehal Pinto (Director of Ryan Group of Institutions). Host St Xavier’s High School,Borivali (E),organised a colourful programme.

The exhibition was on the theme “Science & Mathematical Innovation”. More than 70 schools participated and competed for the highest recognition under the categories of Jr./Sr. Science Project. Teachers were also vying for awards through competitions.

Ryan group hosts children’s festival

The Ryan International Group of Schools hosted the 13th International Children’s Festival of Performing Arts (ICFPA) under the chairmanship of Dr A F Pinto and MD,Grace Pinto,at Talkatora Stadium,Kamani Auditorium,Little Theatre Group and National Bal Bhavan in Delhi. The 4 day cultural extravaganza revolved around the theme: A Brighter Tomorrow. The festival brought together over 15,000 students from 21 countries. The world has become a global village and the festival provided a platform for young cultural ambassadors to share their ideas and aspirations for a brighter tomorrow through dance,drama and music.

The festival was graced by eminent personalities,ambassadors,bureaucrats,parents and stalwarts from various walks of life. Some of these were H.E Laimonas Talat Kalpsa,Ambassador of Lithuania,Gudmundur Eiriksson,Ambassador of Iceland,Ms. Mahishini Colonne,Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka,Mr. Arjun Raj Pant,Cultural Counsellor,Nepal,Mr. Manu Arya,Advisor Culture & Public Diplomacy- Norway,Vayalar Ravi – Hon’ble Minister Overseas and Indian Affairs,Kiran Bedi – IPS,Jose K Mani – MP,A.C Michael – Member of Minority Commission,Mahapatra – Resident Commissioner,Haryana,Mathew Cherian – CEO Helpage India,K L Sharma – In-Charge congress of Amethi and Raebareli among many others. Kiran Bedi tweeted,“Ryan Festival is absolutely beautiful that promotes art,creativity and harmony amongst students internationally. They are full of energy and vigour.” The presence of the dignitaries gave encouragement to the young cultural ambassadors. They felt truly delighted to associate themselves with this mega event.

Ryanites presented rich cultural heritage of India through dance,drama and a giant puppet show,while international participants from Bangladesh,Egypt,Finland,Germany,Indonesia,Iceland,Italy,Iran,Latvia,Lithuania,Nepal,Norway,Morocco,Russia,Spain,Sri Lanka,Thailand,United Kingdom,and Zambia joined in with spectacular classical and contemporary genres of their own country.

While speaking about his experience,a parent from Ryan International School,Vasant Kunj said,“I felt there was a true amalgamation of cultures during this festival and all the children who participated really came back more learned and grounded as they interacted with students from other international schools. Ryan has indeed created a wonderful platform for young students.”

The highlight of the second day of the festival was World Village,which provided an opportunity for students to pick up mementoes,souvenirs and artifacts from various countries. The whole idea of World Village revolved around opening to the youth of the world,the doors to countries other than their own,so that the young minds open up and relate to other cultures too. Yet another novel initiative was White T-Shirt Ceremony. The performers adorned in pure White T-Shirt scribbled messages of peace and harmony in different languages on the T-Shirts to give and take home a message that there is no replacement for peace for a Brighter Tomorrow. Commenting on the event,Madam Grace Pinto said,“Theatre is a powerful medium,it binds people and brings out the best in them. This 4-day festival brought together children from 21 countries instilling in them a sense of respect for each other and deepen international bonding and broaden their cultural horizons.”

Cambridge school celebrates Navy day

Several nations observe or have observed a Navy Day to recognize their navy. 4th December is celebrated as Navy Day in India to commemorate the event. The Indian Navy celebrates it in different commands. Various activities marks this day like Wreath Laying Ceremony at the War Memorial followed by on Operational Display.

Cambridge School celebrated its 42nd anniversary of its attack on Pakistan’s only naval base at Karachi. In this celebration it was a day to pay tribute to those who serve or have served in the Navy. The students of Cambridge School highlighted the programme during the morning assembly. The students pledged to keep the beach litter free,avoid dropping food items,because these items attract birds. Birds flying near the display area pose a major threat to the flying aircrafts. One of the Students said,“Indian navy is going to take part in the world’s largest naval exercise/war-game along with 22 other nations and it is one of the world’s largest navy and aspires to be a true Blue Water Navy in near future.” It is truly a day which will find a place of pride in our naval annals.

Unmukt Chand launches his book at Ryan Global

Ryan International Group of Schools played the host to Unmukt Chand,India’s U19 Cricket World Cup winning captain as the launched his book ‘The Sky’s The Limit’ published by Penguin India,at Ryan Global School.

Unmukt spent time with the students interacting and playing cricket with the school team. The highlight was when the students asked him questions on various things.

Unmukt said,“I was reminded of my school days.”
