Special traffic and power day blocks will be conducted by the Central Railway till October 10 at Karjat station to facilitate pre non-interlocking (PNI) works as part of the ongoing Karjat yard remodelling project. The maintenance is aimed at upgrading infrastructure and enhancing operational safety at the station, officials said.

“These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. We request passengers to bear with us for the inconvenience caused,” said Dr Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway.

The blocks that began on September 26 will specifically impact train operations on October 3, 4 and 10. Suburban train services will face temporary cancellations, short terminations, and short originations during the block periods. On October 3, the block will be in effect between 11.20 am and 6 pm affecting the Bhivpuri–Jambrung Cabin–Thakurvadi–Nagnath Cabin–Karjat section. Up and down services between Neral and Karjat will be suspended during the block.

On October 4, the block will operate from 11.20 am to 4.45 pm, and on October 10, from 11.20 am to 4.20 pm, impacting services between Karjat and Khopoli. During these periods, several Karjat–Khopoli and Khopoli–Karjat locals will be cancelled, and some CSMT–Khopoli trains will terminate at Karjat. In addition, a Khopoli–CSMT local scheduled for 1.48 pm will originate from Karjat. Mail and Express trains will continue to operate normally, with a few diverted via mid-line at Monkey Hill Cabin without affecting mainline operations.

No disruptions are expected for suburban or long-distance trains between October 5 and 9, officials said. Central Railway advised passengers to plan their journeys in advance and accommodate revised schedules during the block periods.
