In yet another blow to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, Mangesh Satamkar, a former Sena (UBT) corporator, joined Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena on Wednesday night.

Satamkar is the 14th BMC corporator from Sena (UBT) to quit the party and join the Shinde-led Sena. Satamkar was the corporator from Antop Hill area and had won the corporation election three times in 2002, 2007 and 2017 and was also the chairperson of the BMC’s Education Committee.

Satamkar joined Shinde-led Sena in the presence of CM Eknath Shinde alleging that the Sena (UBT) would not pay attention to the issues faced by him and other party leaders and workers and hence he has joined Shinde-led Sena.

Last week, former Sena (UBT) corporator Trushna Vishwasrao had joined the Shinde-led Sena.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray will be visiting Thane, the bastion of CM Shinde and to attend the North Indian Workers’ meeting on Saturday. The event has been organised by Sena (UBT) MP Rajan Vichare at Gadkari Rangayatan hall where the former chief minister will address the party workers. Earlier, Uddhav Thackeray attended a Jain Samaj programme in Thane and this would be his second visit to Thane since the split in the party.
