In a setback for the Yuva Sena, its chief Aaditya Thackeray’s close aide Rahul Kanal is likely to join the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday when Aaditya and other Sena (UBT) leaders are set to take out a mega protest march to the BMC headquarters in South Mumbai.
Rahul Kanal is a known face in the Bandra area and is considered to be close to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya since the Yuva Sena was formed over 10 years ago. He had earlier quit the Yuva Sena core committee’s WhatsApp group hinting that he is upset with the functioning of its panel.
Kanal was appointed as a trustee of Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST), a temple trust of Sai Baba in Shirdi, and was also a member of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) education committee in 2017.
The Shiv Sena on Friday suspended all office-bearers of the Yuva Sena from Bandra West, including Kanal, following which he took to Twitter and said, “Feeling Sad !!! Very well know who has done this but removing people who have worked for you without a hearing is arrogance and you could remove me but not the people who have worked day and night yet. Chalo acha hai sabko pata chale ke Ego Aur arrogance kya hota hai !!! (it’s good that now people will know what happens with ego and arrogance).”
In another tweet, he apologised to the office-bearers and said, “Jai Maharashtra !!! I’m sorry for all my genuine work force who worked day and night and you have to face this because of me and only when you stand for right and against all odds this is just the start and now you have started it , thank you.”
The party’s modern face, Kanal was close to several celebrities in Bollywood and the entertainment industry.
