14 disputed border villages in Chandrapur district to be integrated into Maharashtra

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the inclusion of 14 disputed villages from Jiwati tehsil into Maharashtra, with a final decision expected soon. This move is likely to resolve the long-pending issue of these border villages.

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced key decisions to address critical concerns during a meeting held at Vidhan Bhawan on Tuesday.The meeting was attended by MLA Devraj Bhongle, residents of the 14 villages in Jiwati taluka, Chandrapur District Collector Vinay Gowda among others.

Bawankule issued instructions to expedite the process to convert Class 2 lands under the District Collector’s jurisdiction to Class 1 status. Notably, a significant decision was made to convert Class 2 lands in Survey Nos. 1 to 8 in Rajura city to Class 1 at no cost, providing substantial financial relief to landowners.

Despite approval for seven posts under the Sanjay Gandhi Yojana, recruitment had been pending. Bawankule issued immediate orders to approve the recruitment, which will accelerate the scheme’s implementation.

Issues arising from the administrative challenges in Jiwati tehsil due to vacant Kotwal posts were also raised during the meeting, prompting the minister to immediately approve a proposal for their appointment. This will streamline administrative operations in the region.
