The members of Punjab Aided School Teachers’ and Other Employees’ Union sat on protest opposite the main gate of the Mini-Secretariat here on Monday.

The members are demanding the shifting of teachers working in aided schools to government schools.

There are around 48 aided schools in Ludhiana with more than 500 teachers working on aided posts. In Punjab, around 4,500 teachers work on aided posts.

Chamkaur Singh, district patron of the association, said,“From Monday till August 9,we will be sitting daily on protest here. We want jobs to be shifted to government schools because there are many problems in aided schools. For example, there are no medical facilities and there is no increase in house rent allowance.”
