A Polish man carrying 9.32 kg charas was arrested Wednesday from Indo-Nepal border in a joint operation of Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) and Maharajganj police.
Przemyslaw Jakubopalka (33) was arrested from Sunauli border while he was travelling in a Bolero. The police also recovered a passport issued from Thailand in March this year and a tourist visa of three months for India starting from July 16 and ending on October 15.
The accused told he purchased charas worth 4000 euros from Kathmandu and was carrying it to Amsterdam via Delhi and Zurich.
Investigative agencies questioned him before he was produced before the local court that sent him to judicial custody.
He has been booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Circle Officer, Sunauli area, Pankaj Kumar Singh said, a report about the arrest and recovery of charas is being sent to Poland Embassy in Delhi through local intelligence unit of Maharajganj.
The accused told the police he is a native of Poland’s Dabrowa Gornicza city and had married a Thai girl. He claimed he settled in Thailand after marriage. The accused denied to have been arrested in India earlier.
