Mohua Moitra puts out TMC version of Kolkata doctor’s rape-murder case, claims ‘no tampering of evidence’

This comes a day after the TMC spokesperson refuted claims that CM Mamata Banerjee and elected representatives were involved in a systemic cover-up of the incident.

Amid ongoing protests and public outrage over the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at the state-run R G Kar Government Medical College and Hospital, TMC MP and national spokesperson Mahua Moitra took to social media Friday to “put some facts on record” and “bust myths and fake propaganda.”

“Urging media to be responsible while reporting. Genuine concerns need to be addressed. Fake news needs to be busted,” she wrote in a post on X.

This comes a day after Moitra as the spokesperson of the TMC asserted that claims of a “systemic cover-up” were wrong.

Moitra put forth four points:

📌 Addressing the mention of ‘150 grams of bodily fluids’ in media reports, Moitra clarified the technicalities citing details from the autopsy report. She claimed that fluids are measured in millilitres and responsible media houses must carry out due diligence in reportage.

📌 Talking about allegations of tampering with the crime scene or place of occurrence (PO), she claimed: “It has been sealed off and only the police and CBI have access to it.”

📌As for claims of construction work at the crime scene, the TMC MP claimed the health secretary spoke to students who brought to attention the urgent need for toilets in the state-run hospital. “The work started at a different place of the students’ choosing. The PO is entirely separate,” she added.

📌 She also ‘debunked’ reports of an inquiry committee being set up to analyse the mental health and psychiatric condition of the victim by clarifying that a five-member enquiry committee was set up as per standard operating procedure (SOP) to see if there were any lapses on the part of the hospital.
