The West Bengal government has decided to hold a special drive from November 2 to 10 to persuade public and private sector banks to sanction pending applications under the Bhabishyat credit card scheme for providing business loans.

In a meeting, Chief Secretary Harikrishna Dwivedi on Monday directed the administrations of all districts in the state to hold the drive. Also, the government will lay emphasis on the registration of migrant labourers during the period.

The chief secretary said, “All district magistrates (DMs) were asked to process the pending applications with banks by November 1 and ensure that all pending cases of provisional sanctions are converted to final during the drive. Also, the cases rejected on flimsy grounds will be reviewed.”

It was decided that all banks will submit subsidy claims for the sanctioned cases by November 5 so that disbursements are made against the presently sanctioned cases by November 10, he added.

The district magistrates were also asked to widely publicise the 24 land parcels advertised for the Scheme for Approved Industrial Parks (SAIPs) so that a good response is received by November 10, the last date of application, the senior official said.

The districts were also directed to review the status of student credit cards. “A branch-wise plan has been prepared by the districts for sanctioning of loans against 21,000 applications of students.

It was decided that a special campaign will be held across the state to collect details of all the left-out migrants and their families from November 1 to 10.

During the drive, house-to-house visits to mobilise the left-out families will be held during the initial six days and digitisation of collected forms will be done simultaneously, it is learnt.

So far, the state government has collected details of close to 14.25 lakh migrants during the last phase of the Duare Sarkar campaign.
