Kolkata:The Opposition CPM state committee Saturday discussed law and order and price rise situation in West Bengal and decided to hold protests against it from next week. “We discussed lack of security among common people,spurt in political violence,price rise,the state governments indifference to solve burning problems, CPM central committee member Md Selim,said at the end of the first day’s session of the 2-day state committee meeting here. Selim said law violation,rallies and street corner meetings would be taken up across the state next week.
College principal falls ill after gherao
Raiganj:The principal of a college in North Bengal fell ill after he was gheraoed by workers of Congress’ students wing for six hours demanding admission of 500 students,sources said Saturday. Islampur College principal Utathwa Bandyopadhyay was admitted to a government hospital Friday night at Islampur in North Dinajpur district where doctors referred him to a Kolkata hospital.
