The Special Task Force of the Kolkata Police arrested a senior Maoist leader Musafir Sahani alias Anand Sahani alias Aloke Da alias Manik Da from a hotel in central Kolkata.
Sahani was produced before the Bankshal court today and taken to Bihar on transit remand. We had specific information that a senior Maoist leader from Bihar-Jharkhand area has reached our city. We were keeping a vigil on him and yesterday late at night he was arrested from a hotel near Creek Row. We contacted the Bihar police and their team reached the city today. They have identified him as a Maoist member of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, said Rajeev Kumar,Additional Commissioner of Police,STF.
According to sources,Sahani has more than 20 cases against him registered with the Bihar Police. Sahani,who was active in the north Bihar area,had plans to take a train from Seakda after he completed his work in the city. He came to the city to meet a linkman of the Maoists here,said a senior officer.
