The Delhi Police Saturday said that its enquiry into the death of actor and director Satish Kaushik has not found foul play or anything suspicious.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Rajeev Kumar said as per the post-mortem report, the preliminary cause of death is due to cardiac arrest caused by coronary artery blockage associated with coronary artery disease and “manner of death appears to be natural”.

“However, in this regard, the final opinion shall be reached after perusal of histopathology study report of the heart and FSL pertaining to the blood,” he said.

The ADCP added that during the enquiry, “nothing suspicious or foul play came on record. However, police proceedings under 174 CrPC are going on”.
Police said that at 2.22 am on March 9, police received an MLC information from Fortis Hospital at Kapashera Police Station that Kaushik (66) was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Later, the body of the deceased was shifted to DDU Hospital for further inquest proceedings.

Police said that Kaushik along with his manager Santosh Rai came to Delhi around 10 am on March 8 and stayed at the residence of his friend at Bijwasan in Delhi. “His manager stated that they celebrated Holi till 3 pm and took no rest. No party was held in the evening,” police said.

Additional DCP Kumar added that at 9 pm, Kaushik had dinner and then after walking, he went to his bedroom and watched movie clips on his iPad. “Around 12 am, he called his manager who was in the adjoining room and complained about some health issues like chest pain and uneasiness. He was rushed to Fortis Hospital where he was declared dead,” police said.

Crime and the FSL teams were called to the spot and nothing suspicious was found at the spot except some medicines. CCTV footage was collected and all witnesses who accompanied him were examined.
