Delhi: New members of NDMC take oath

The newly appointed non-official members, announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on November 5, including Kuljit Singh Chahal, who returns to NDMC as vice-chairperson.

The non-official members of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) assumed charge Saturday after taking oath at a ceremony held at Raj Niwas.

The newly appointed non-official members, announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on November 5, include Kuljit Singh Chahal, who returns to NDMC as vice-chairperson; social worker Anil Balmiki; Sarita Tomar, general secretary of Delhi BJP’s Mahila Morcha, and Dinesh Pratap Singh, former president of Delhi BJP’s Purvanchal Morcha.

The ceremony, which was administered by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, was also attended by NDMC Chairman Keshav Chandra, New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, as well as party MPs Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and Yogendra Chandolia.

In his address, Chahal expressed gratitude to the party’s senior leadership and outlined his agenda for the first 100 days in office, which will focus on a “clean, smart, and digitally integrated NDMC”.

The agenda included coming up with a robust sanitation monitoring system, enhancing waste management practices, improving condition of public toilets, implementing advanced technology solutions such as a digital parking system by utilising FASTag technology and promoting electric vehicles, among others.
