A slew of important agendas are set to be tabled at the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)’s monthly house meeting on Thursday. These include a four-time increase in parking fees during the imposition of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) guidelines, the maintenance and upgradation of infrastructure at 13 electronic tax machines, and the establishment of a cow’s digestive process-inspired purification plant among others.
The MCD generally increases parking fees after the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) imposes GRAP guidelines due to pollution issues in the national capital every year. However, if the agenda gets approved in Thursday’s house meeting, an automatic increase of 4 times will be imposed during GRAP-II.
A contract agreement for the supply, installation, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), an Electric Tax Collection System was introduced in August 2018. In the council meeting, an agenda to extend the finance of the present contract-agreement will be proposed. The proposal includes the upgradation of 13 road entry points comprising 85 path lines on the existing terms and conditions of the 2018 contract.
Amongst the agendas set to be tabled, is also a proposal to resume the construction of underground multi-level car parking at New Friends Colony, Jangpura, and Kalkaji. The work began in 2010 and the tender for the three parkings was allotted to a single contractor. The original estimated cost was decided on the basis of preliminary drawings; however, the contractors later modified the designs leading to an increase in the build-up area. As per the MCD, an increase of over 21 per cent was seen. The modification also led to an increase in the funds required for their completion which resulted in the work getting stalled. An agenda will now be tabled to increase the funds for the project’s completion.
The proposals will also include the establishment of an ingesta or punch waste processing plant at the Ghazipur Slaughterhouse, the demolition of the old existing Maternity & Child Care Centre at the Lajpat Nagar Colony Hospital, construction of a medical college building in Rajan Babu Lung and Tuberculosis Institute, and the regularisation of daily wage cleaning workers working in Education Department.
