A 22-year-old man died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a road to deliver food in Gurgaon’s Manesar on Tuesday. According to the police, Sunil, a Nepali national, died near the dhaba where he worked.

His cousin Manoj Kumar, a Uttarakhand resident living in Manesar, said Sunil was on his way to deliver an order from the dhaba at around 7.30 pm on Tuesday, walking on the Jaipur-to-Delhi highway when the accident happened.

“An unknown vehicle driver, driving recklessly and at high speed, collided with my cousin, causing his death. He was admitted to ESI Hospital, Manesar, where the doctor declared him dead,” he said.

Kumar said Sunil’s family comprised his parents and four sisters. “He came to Gurgaon two years ago and was working in Sohna before taking up this job at the dhaba. He was on leave for three months and came back recently,” he said.

Sunil used to earn around Rs 13,000 every month, he added.

A police officer said they were trying to identify the driver and the vehicle through CCTV cameras. An FIR has been registered on the complaint of Kumar under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 279 and 304A at Manesar police station.
