“Prima facie, it appears that he died by suicide. We are trying to get more details from his friend who accompanied him to the society,” said SHO Gautam.

The SHO also said that Tripathi and his friend had set up a meeting with the broker and that the three men were in the building for about 50 minutes.

ACP Shrivastav said that around 6:45 pm on Sunday, the Indirapuram police were informed that a man had fallen from the 31st floor of Saya Gold Avenue Society. “Officers immediately reached the spot and took the man to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead,” the ACP said, adding, “We sent the body for post-mortem and have begun an investigation.”

SHO Gautam also said that Tripathi was on his phone when the incident happened. “We have recovered his sandals and mobile phone from the balcony of one of the flats. We have collected footage of CCTV cameras installed in the building and the area and are trying to find out if it was an accident or there was some foul play … We are talking to his family and friends,” he said.

An administrative official of the housing society, meanwhile, confirmed that Tripathi was accompanied by his friend and a broker.
