A 28-year-old man from North Delhi’s Malkaganj was arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly murdering his employer’s five-year-old son, police said. The missing complaint was filed on Tuesday afternoon, police added.
According to the police, the initial inquiry revealed that the child had gone missing while playing outside his home. Hours later, the search ended when the child’s body was discovered in a nearby rented room belonging to Nitu, the man who worked as a driver for the boy’s father.
Further questioning revealed that the father had two drivers — Nitu and Wasim — who would help him drive and maintain the several commercial vehicles he owned, officers said.
The father told the police that Nitu and Wasim had a heated argument the day before the murder. “Nitu and Wasim got into a fight while drunk, and Nitu beat Wasim. When Wasim complained to his employer, he slapped Nitu two to four times and scolded him. Furious, Nitu allegedly lured his employer’s son away from his house, took him to his rented room, and killed him with bricks and a knife. The police took the child to the hospital, where he was declared dead,” said DCP Outer North, Hareshwar Swami. Police also registered a case under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Narela police station.
Following the discovery of the body, several teams were constituted to trace the accused. They were deployed at bus terminals, railway stations, and interstate bus stands, while technical surveillance and CCTV footage analysis were carried out, said police. Acting on a tip-off, the police tracked Nitu’s movements to the Malkaganj area, where he was arrested, said officers.
Police said that during questioning, Nitu admitted to the crime. According to the police, he hails from Pokharauni village in Madhubani district of Bihar and had been residing in Narela’s New Sannoth Colony for about a year.
“About a month ago, he was removed from the job due to lack of work…..On Tuesday, he had an altercation with the complainant (the boy’s father) and threatened to take revenge, which is believed to be the motive behind the brutal murder of the complainant’s 5-year-old son. No previous criminal record has been found so far,” said DCP Swami.
Further, police said that while Nitu had been removed from the job, he continued working for his employer and had not been paid by him for the last two months. Nitu had nursed a grudge against his employer for at least two months, said police. “His immediate trigger at the moment was being hit by his employer,” said DCP Swami.
Investigators recovered blood-stained clothes from his possession, which have been sent for forensic examination, said police.
