Delhi LIVEDelhi News Highlights: Delhi Police on Sunday recovered cellphones burnt by Lalit Mohan Jha, held in connection with the Parliament security breach case, from Kuchaman City in Rajasthan.

Delhi News Highlights (December 17): The Delhi Police has recovered mobile phones destroyed by the alleged main conspirator of the Parliament security breach, Lalit Mohan Jha, from Kuchaman in Rajasthan. Lalit had fled to Rajasthan from outside the Parliament when four of the other accused — Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Neelam Verma, and Amol Shinde — were arrested. Investigation revealed that Lalit, along with the help of a few others, had destroyed the phones at a dhaba in Kuchaman.

Inspect ‘unauthorised’ bars and pubs in Humayunpur village each week: Delhi HC to police, excise dept

The Delhi High Court Thursday directed the Delhi government’s excise department and Delhi Police to conduct a weekly inspection of “unauthorised” bars and pubs allegedly serving liquor without a licence in the city’s Humayunpur village, in Safdarjung Enclave. A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Mini Pushkarna orally told the counsel appearing for the excise department, “Your staff must go and inspect the areas once a week. They must go in the late evenings and must see everything.”

After 500 e-buses were flagged off Thursday, making Delhi the city with the largest fleet of such vehicles in the country, the capital has now set its eyes on two more targets on opposite ends of the size spectrum: double-deckers and small 9-metre buses. While the Delhi Transport Department is exploring the possibility of procuring double-decker e-buses from existing manufacturers, over 2,000 smaller 9-metre neighbourhood circulators connecting Metro stations with residential areas — ranging from posh colonies to unauthorised ones — will hit the streets of the capital every month in 2024.
