Three minors were apprehended by the police on Saturday for the murder of a 19-year-old youth at Shahdara allegedly after an altercation over a cap.
The police identified the deceased as Sufian. Shahdara DCP Prashant Gautam said on Sunday, “Sufian had slapped two of the minors after an altercation over his cap. To take revenge, both hatched a conspiracy to kill him.” Along with the two, another minor, believed to be connected to the murder, has been apprehended.
Gautam added that one of the juveniles had procured a countrymade pistol purportedly used in the crime from his mother. “Police are on the lookout for the woman as well as another suspect,” said Gautam.
The police said that on November 2, the Gandhi Nagar police station was informed of a shooting that had taken place at Kailash Nagar. On reaching the spot, the police found four empty cell cartridges and blood on the spot. Sufian was taken to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead on arrival by the doctors.
“Within 24 hours, the police teams apprehended three juveniles from Ghaziabad,” Gautam said. He added that the pistol and a scooty used in the crime have been recovered.
