In an effort to boost medical emergency response, Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on Sunday flagged off 10 free ambulances under the “Aakash Community Life Savers” initiative by Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital in Dwarka.
Launched under a public-private partnership model, the ambulances will operate free of cost, officials said. The ambulances are intended to reduce response times for emergency medical cases in the city, officials added.
“This ambulance service is completely free of cost. No charge will be levied on the public,” Singh said at the launch event, which was attended by senior IPS officer Robin Hibu and Aakash Healthcare Managing Director Aashish Chaudhry.
The minister noted that collaboration between government and private hospitals has already helped reduce the average ambulance response time from around 30 minutes to 25 minutes.
“I have always maintained that when government institutions collaborate with private hospitals or entities to provide public services, it transforms both the condition and the direction of the state. In the medical sector, we welcome the launch of this ambulance service, which has already reduced the average response time from approximately 30 minutes to about 25 minutes,” Singh said.
The minister urged private institutions to work together to boost Delhi’s medical emergency preparedness.
“Work is also underway to ensure that, with a single phone call, an ambulance can reach the patient immediately…….This is a better facility for Delhi and a commendable step. Everyone needs to come together and think in this manner for Delhi’s benefit,” he added.
Alongside the launch, Singh announced a crackdown on food adulteration during the festive season. He said multiple raids and inspections are being carried out across the Capital to check the sale of adulterated and counterfeit food products.
“Our teams are fully active, and continuous inspections are underway across the city. Anyone found selling or manufacturing adulterated goods will not be spared,” he said, adding that the government is “fully committed” to ensuring public safety.
