The Delhi High Court Friday issued notice to the AAP government on a plea seeking CBI probe into charges of bribery against Food and Supplies Minister Imran Hussain. Justice Pratibha Rani asked the Delhi government to file its response on the plea filed by Mohammed Qasim, a businessman, who has alleged that Hussain’s associates demanded Rs 30 lakh from him “for the minister”.

The plea, filed through advocates Pramod Dubey and Aman Panwar, alleged that the city police were “deliberately shielding” the minister and other accused. The complainant said the probe should be transferred from Delhi Police to the CBI and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act should be added in the case.

Qasim also sought police protection for himself and his family, alleging that they had been “threatened” by Hussain’s associates. The bench has directed police to grant protection to Qasim and his family.
