Delhi: 9-year-old girl sexually assaulted, man arrested

An officer said the mother of the girl approached the local police station on Tuesday. “She alleged that on Sunday, the child told her that when she was going to a grocery shop around 7.30 pm, a man approached her near the stairs of the building she lives in. She described the boy as tall and dark and said that he was wearing a black mask,” the officer added.

The FIR, lodged on the basis of the mother’s complaint, said that the man took her daughter to a secluded place in the locality, stripped her and inserted his fingers into her private parts. It added that the man removed his mask while he sexually assaulted the girl, and she could recognise him. Soon after, the accused allegedly saw another man approach the area and fled.

“She told me that the man had approached her multiple times and even offered her sweets and money previously. When we inquired about the man based on my daughter’s description, I got to know that a similar looking man works at a factory… I took my daughter to the factory on Tuesday and she recognised the man,” the mother said as per the FIR.

“The accused has been arrested. A case under POCSO Act has been registered based on the girl’s medical examination report and statement,” DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan said.
